Triumph revamps Scrambler 1200 lineup for 2024
Triumph’s Scrambler 1200 models have undergone a transformation for 2024, with the introduction of the Scrambler 1200 X and the enhanced Scrambler 1200 XE. These changes aim to provide a clearer distinction between the two models, making it easier for riders to choose the one that suits their needs.
A More Approachable Scrambler 1200 X
The Scrambler 1200 X for 2024 builds upon the success of its XC predecessor. It retains Triumph’s powerful 1,200cc SOHC parallel twin engine, generating 89 hp at 7,000 rpm and 81.1 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. Significant updates include a single 50mm throttle body and revised exhaust headers for improved power delivery. Triumph has also lowered the seat height and reduced the price tag, making it more accessible to a wider range of riders. The new suspension setup, featuring a 45mm Marzocchi fork and preload-adjustable shocks, enhances on-road performance while maintaining its off-road capability. Cornering ABS and traction control add to the safety features, and the X model boasts a narrower handlebar compared to the XE, making it a versatile choice for those who enjoy both street and light off-road riding.
The Adventure-Ready Scrambler 1200 XE
Triumph’s Scrambler 1200 XE continues to blur the lines between a scrambler-style motorcycle and a high-performance adventure bike. It shares the same potent 1,200cc twin as the Scrambler 1200 X but adds an Off-Road Pro mode for more adventurous riders. The XE’s long-travel suspension, switchable dash themes, and cruise control provide an ideal setup for off-road exploration. Marzocchi suspension units replace the Showa fork and Öhlins shocks, offering improved adjustability and bottoming resistance. The XE also benefits from upgraded Brembo Stylema brakes for enhanced stopping power. With its $15,295 starting price, the Scrambler 1200 XE offers a compelling blend of off-road capability and advanced features at a more affordable cost.
Both the Scrambler 1200 X and XE are expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2024, giving riders two distinct options to embrace the thrill of Triumph’s iconic Scrambler lineup.
